''GETTING TO KNOW COMPANION ANIMALS - LEARNING ABOUT THEIR CARE'' - CAPCA, ACHELEIA 29 September - Pafos Live 26/9
An educational animal welfare action entitled "Getting to know companion animals – Learning about their care" is organized by the Office of the Commissioner for Environment and Animal Welfare and the municipalities of Paphos and Ierokipia.
The event is organized in view of World Animal Day which is celebrated on October 4 and will take place next Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the shelter of the C.A.P.C.A. organization in Acheleia, municipal district of the Municipality of Ierokipia.
This year's theme, "Seeing the World Through Their Eyes", invites everyone to better understand the needs of animals and to consider their responsibility for animal welfare.
Children accompanied by teachers from the First Primary School of Ierokipia and the Paphos B-Dimitrion Primary School will be guided through the shelter, get to know the work done there and be informed about the needs of companion animals and their responsible care.
They will also have the opportunity to get to know animals of the shelter up close, under the guidance and supervision of those in charge, to ask questions and share thoughts and experiences about the care and protection of animals.
The action will be attended by the Commissioner for the Environment and Animal Welfare, Mr. Elias Myrianthous, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Ierokipia, Mr. Nikos Palios and Andreas Sikkis, the Mayor of Paphos, Mr. Angelos Onisiforou, as well as Municipal Councillors.
