Five days of film screenings and events. Subtitles in Greek and English

Chinese films will be screened in Nicosia and Limassol this June as the Embassy of China in Cyprus, the China Film Administration, and the deputy ministry of culture jointly present Chinese Film Week in Cyprus, running from Wednesday to June 15.

The five days of screenings highlight not only the cinema world but also take place in celebration of the United Nation’s International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations and the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Cyprus.

If it is live Cuban music and food you are after, then this event is one to look out for. The Viva Cuba Fiesta II is coming to the Metropolis of Tamasos in Episkopeio on June 29 to celebrate all things Cuba. From 6pm onwards, music, dance, bites and drinks – all with a Cuban flair – will transform the area into a colourful Latin party. And what’s more, the event has a charitable mission of collecting donations, children’s items and medical equipment to be sent to Cuba.

With summer in the air Rialto Theatre this month brings back another edition of its Summer Cinema, offering cinematic experiences under the starry sky. A large cinema screen will be set up in the neighourhood’s SEK parking area, inviting cinephiles to moments of cinema magic.

Five films will be screened on June 18, 21, 23, 25 and 28, all in their original language with Greek and English subtitles, providing a variety of different cinematic experiences. Screenings will start at 9pm, and tickets are available at the theatre box office or online.

Coming up in Pissouri is an exhibition that puts the local production of wine in the spotlight. The Pissouri Community Council, in collaboration with the Cyprus Winemakers’ Association and the Cyprus Winery Association, in their effort to support Cypriot wineries and Cypriot wine, are organising for the fourth time the Cypriot Wine Exhibition Pissouria. The exhibition will take place on June 16 at the Pissouri Community Amphitheatre.

In a beautiful atmosphere in the Community Amphitheatre, visitors will be able to taste and enjoy the creations of the Cypriot wineries, watch the preparation of halloumi and the distillation of Zivania, accompanied by local products that will be offered free of charge.

Adding to the evening’s entertainment is a rich dance programme by Tasty of Pissouriou. And that is not all; in a separate room of the amphitheatre, visitors will be able to watch videos about the Cypriot vineyard, as well as a short presentation about the Cypriot vineyard by Oenologist Marco Zambarta.
