INCREASE IN REAL ESTATE SALES TO FOREIGNERS - Pafos Live 7/7
An increase of 3.8% was recorded in the number of house purchases and sales in Cyprus in 2025, compared to 2024, according to data published by Eurostat. The increase followed the 1.1% decrease recorded in Cyprus in 2024, compared to 2023, according to the same data.
At the European Union level, Eurostat reports that in 2025 house sales increased in most countries for which data are available.Specifically, out of the 18 EU countries for which data are available, the number of homes that changed ownership decreased in three countries.
Decreases were recorded in Croatia, with 4.1%, Bulgaria, with 2.5%, and Poland, with 1.1%.
The largest increases in the number of house purchases in 2025 were recorded in Slovenia, with 29.9%, Lithuania, with 22.8%, and Austria, with 21.4%.
For 2024, compared to 2023, Eurostat reports that the number of house purchases decreased in six countries and increased in twelve.
The largest decreases in 2024 were recorded in Slovenia, with 17.7%, Croatia, with 13.9%, and France, with 9.4%.
The largest increases in 2024 were recorded in Luxembourg, with 47.1%, Hungary, with 34.8%, and the Netherlands, with 17.0%.
