The renewal of hunting licenses for the upcoming hunting season will begin on August 1, 2026, without an increase in fees, as informed by the Game and Fauna Service.
According to the Service, the summer hunting season will begin on Sunday, August 23, 2026 and will be allowed every Sunday until September 13, 2026, as well as Wednesdays, September 2, 9 and 16.
The Game and Fauna Service informs hunters of the following:
1. Hunting license fee
The renewal of hunting licenses will begin on August 1, 2026. During the upcoming hunting season there will be NO increase in the fees of hunting licenses.
2. Summer hunting season
Hunting for the summer season will start on Sunday 23/8/2026 and will be allowed every Sunday until 13/9/2026, as well as Wednesdays 2/9, 9/9 and 16/9/2026.
3. Restrictions on turtledove harvesting
As last year, strict restrictions will apply to the harvest of the turtle dove for reasons of management and protection of the species based on the restrictions set by the European Union:
• Per excursion / hunter: Maximum 6 turtle doves.
• Per season / hunter: Maximum 12 turtle doves.
• National harvest limit: 15,756 turtle doves.
• Turtle dove hunting will be allowed from 2/9/2026 – 20/9/2026
• Immediate reporting of harvesting, for each turtle dove hunted, in the Artemis Cy application.
4. Quail Harvesting Restrictions
Similar restrictions will apply to quail harvesting, taking into account the relevant recommendations and restrictions set by the European Union:
• Per excursion / hunter: Maximum 8 quails.
• National harvest limit: 66,120 quails.
• Quail hunting will be allowed from 23/8/2026 to 27/12/2026.
• Immediate reporting of harvesting, for each quail hunted, in the Artemis Cy application.
5. Dog breeds in daily hunting areas.
In the D.A. areas (where hunting was allowed with the use of any breed of dog) from 3/9/2026 until 30/9/2026, the use of up to two (2) quail hunting dogs will be allowed, only with dogs for which a dog license has been issued for the use of a dog for thrush or woodcock hunting (i.e. approved ferma or retrieval dogs). In the specific areas as well as in the D.B. areas from 1/10/2026, the use of up to two (2) dogs will be allowed, only for dogs for which a dog license has been issued for the use of a dog for thrush hunting (i.e. approved return dogs).
6. Hunting Resident Game
It is reminded that the hunting of the resident game will start on Sunday 1/11/2026 and will be allowed every Sunday and Wednesday until 27/12/2026 (17 excursions).
7. Thrush Hunt
The thrush hunt will start on Sunday 3/1/2027 and will be allowed every Sunday and Wednesday until 28/2/2027, as well as on Saturday 27/2/2027.
8. Recording of harvesting
The recording of harvesting is mandatory for all prey, through the Artemis Cy application.
9. Availability of Hunting Maps
It is noted that this year no maps will be printed for distribution to hunters.
