Following the meeting held in May at the Paphos Municipal Hall, chaired by the Mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforos, on the issue of creating a shelter for stray dogs, the local bodies involved are running the procedures at an intensive pace in order for everything to be ready for the final decision on the site as soon as possible.

The issue is being dealt with as a priority, the Mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforou, told "F", due to the lack of suitable space so far and the extent that the problem is taking on more and more.
We remind you that the May meeting was attended by the four Mayors of the Paphos district, a representative of the Union of Paphos Communities, the Commissioner for Environment and Animal Welfare, Antonia Theodosiou, Natasa Michaelidou and Alexandros Oriettas, representatives of the animal welfare organization Simba Animal Aid.

During the meeting, the strong interest in the creation of a modern shelter for the temporary accommodation of stray dogs was confirmed, which will serve all the municipalities and communities of the Paphos district.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Animal Welfare informed the attendees at this meeting that the Government intends to financially support the whole effort with an amount of 250 thousand euros.

The Mayor of Paphos reiterated his will to immediately proceed with the necessary procedures so that the shelter can be put into operation within 2027.
