The Member of Parliament of the Democratic Party, Chrysanthos Savvidis, expresses his strong concern about the continued delay in the implementation of the construction works of the two additional uphill lanes in the Mesogi-Tsada and Giolou-Stroumbi sections of the existing Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road, through a question to the competent Ministry.
As he points out, this is a project of vital importance for the Paphos District, as the prolonged delay in the completion of the project causes continued inconvenience to drivers, while there are still serious issues of road safety and smooth traffic flow on one of the busiest and oldest roads in the province.
In the context of his parliamentary intervention, Mr. Savvidis asks the competent Ministry to inform the House of Representatives about the current stage of implementation of the project for the construction of the two additional uphill lanes, about the reasons that led to the delays of the project and about the revised timetable for the completion and delivery of the project to traffic.
Concluding, Mr. Savvidis emphasizes that there is no longer room for new postponements in a project that directly concerns the safety of citizens and the development course of the region. It also asks for clear answers about the reasons for the delays and specific commitments for the immediate promotion and completion of the works.
With the delays in the implementation of the modern highway still plaguing the province of Paphos, he concludes, the delays even in the improvement interventions on the existing, old Paphos-Polis road, are considered completely unacceptable, he concluded.
