The Department of Road Transport announced that eight (8) CHRYSLER brand vehicles and two (2) DODGE brand vehicles were identified which are affected by a defective TAKATA airbag recall. In addition, as reported by the TOM, one (1) DAIHATSU brand vehicle was identified which is affected by a defective airbag recall.
"The above vehicles will be immediately recalled, with an 8-month deadline for the implementation of the recall, for reasons of road safety of citizens. In this regard, an informative SMS message will be sent to the contact number of the vehicle owner, as it has been registered in the computerized system of the Department. In addition, a registered mail will be sent to the postal address registered in the Department's computerized system," the TOM states.
The Department of Road Transport recommends that the affected vehicles not be used until the defective component is replaced. This is a serious road safety issue, and timely compliance prevents serious hazards and protects the lives of drivers, passengers and third parties.
It is noted that the existence of a defective airbag indicates the possibility of rupture of the airbag detonator, resulting in the ejection of metal fragments, which can cause serious injury or death.
