THE HUMAN STORY BEHIND THE CROSS IN POTIMA - A VOW AND A PRAYER

THE HUMAN STORY BEHIND THE CROSS IN POTIMA - A VOW AND A PRAYER - Pafos Press 16/6

The mystery surrounding the white cross that appeared on the shores of the Potima area, in Peyia, seems to have been solved, revealing a touching human story of faith, love and hope.

According to information from PafosPress, behind the placement of the cross lies the vow of a father from Paphos, whose son works as an officer in the Merchant Navy. At the same time, the initiative is a prayer and supplication to Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of seafarers, for the protection of all those who travel and work at sea.

The same information states that the cross was placed on November 1, marking the fulfilment of a deep personal desire and a family vow.

The choice of this specific spot was not just a coincidence. The family that inspired the initiative maintains close ties with the area, as they have been visiting Potima for fishing, swimming and moments of recreation for decades.

In fact, an entire operation had to be organized to place the cross, with the initiators of the action approaching the site by boat and successfully completing its installation on the rocks.

In response to the reactions and comments provoked by the previous PafosPress article, it is clarified that its purpose was not to question the symbolism or value of this specific initiative. On the contrary, the interest was focused on searching for the history hidden behind the appearance of the cross and on highlighting the human emotions and motivations that led to this act.

And as it turned out, behind the white cross in Potima there is no mystery hidden, but an act of faith, a vow of a father for his child and a silent prayer to Saint Nicholas for all the people of the sea.
