POLICE - CHANGES IN OUT OF COURT NOTICES FOR VIOLATIONS ON ROADS WITH CAMERAS - Filenews 6/3
Changes come into force from today, March 6, in the out-of-court settlement of violations related to the violation of a red traffic light at light-controlled intersections, according to a Police announcement. The new regulations are implemented without retroactive effect, following a decision of the Council of Ministers published today in the Official Gazette of the Republic, in the context of the implementation of Law 91(I)/2024.
Based on the new legislation, the gradation of out-of-court fines for violations recorded by the Photo-Labelling System is differentiated.
Specifically, for violation of the mandatory stop line at light-controlled junctions, an out-of-court fine of €25 is imposed.
For failure to comply with a red traffic light, the rating is as follows:
- At a light-controlled intersection where there is a pedestrian crossing and the vehicle enters the crossing, a fine of €85 and 3 penalty points are imposed.
- When the vehicle enters beyond the pedestrian crossing, a fine of €300 and 3 penalty points are imposed.
- In cases where there is no pedestrian crossing and the vehicle enters beyond the white line of mandatory stopping, i.e. within the intersection, a fine of €300 euros and 3 penalty points are also imposed.
At the same time, the Police informs that for issues related to the Photo-Marking System, such as possible commission of an offense, problems with the payment of an out-of-court notice, information about driver details or other related issues, citizens can contact the contractor company on 80008009 phones (or 22712609 from abroad), through the postal address P.O Box 17031, 2260 Latsia – Nicosia, or through the website www.CyCameraSystem.com.
