New test of sending a text message with instructions for taking self-protection measures
Specifically:
The trial mission will be phased from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. as follows:
Pre-paid (no address): 4:30 pm
Province of Paphos: 5 p.m. Fammochostos Province: 5:30 p.m. Nicosia Province: 6 p.m. Province of Larnaca: 6:30 pm. Limassol Province: 7 pm.
In the message that will be sent, the Province concerning the possible incident will be mentioned.
It is clarified that the messages are sent based on the address that each subscriber has declared to their telephone provider and not based on the location of the shipment at the time of the shipment. Therefore, subscribers who are in a different Province from the one declared to their provider will receive a message concerning the Province of their declared address. It is noted that subscribers, for whom there is no declared address, will receive a message independently of the Province.
The purpose of the test is to check the possibility of sending a large number of messages in a short period of time, so that the system can be used as an additional measure of informing citizens, if and if needed. The measure will be utilized at this phase as a supplement to the existing measures for citizens.This process is temporary and will be replaced by the new Early Warning System expected to be put into operation in June.
