The Hermes Airports team involved in the development of air connectivity participated this week in the CONNECT Forum, one of the most established and strategically important air route development conferences in Europe. CONNECT 2026 took place in the city of Lublin, Poland from February 17 to 19. In the context of the conference, Hermes Airports held meetings with 20 airlines with the aim of further enhancing the connectivity of Larnaca and Paphos airports, developing new routes and expanding the presence of existing airlines.
In the context of the contacts of the Hermes Airports delegation, particularly positive messages were recorded in view of the season that is starting with the indications from various markets being outlined as particularly encouraging for Cyprus. In particular, pre-bookings for the summer season so far are very positive for the markets of England, Poland, the Scandinavian countries, Switzerland as well as new markets such as Spain and Italy. It also seems that the new markets have started to create a good base of inbound demand, which should be strengthened by further promoting Cyprus and targeting customer categories.
At the same time, there are positive signs for the next winter season with interest from airlines that want to either expand their schedules or fly year-round.
Maria Kouroupis, Director of Aviation Development and Communications at Hermes Airports, noted that the discussions held with airlines showed that both the agreements that Hermes Airports has concluded with airlines as well as the various initiatives taken by all tourism stakeholders In recent years, they have created a positive image and have contributed to the creation of demand. "However, there is still a lot to be done both in the formulation of a year-round product and in the promotion of Cyprus in order to further improve the air connectivity of the island," added Ms. Kouroupis.
Hermes Airports' participation in CONNECT is part of the company's long-term strategy to enhance Cyprus' air connectivity, support tourism and business activity and create added value for the Cypriot economy.
