Drinking water tested to be of “excellent quality”, Paphos District Authority President tells CNA
The President of the Paphos District Authority (DA), Charalambos Pittokopitis, appeared calm after complaints recently made by citizens about the smell of drinking water in various areas of the Paphos district, saying that it was judged to be of “excellent quality” following tests.
As Mr. Pittokopitis told CNA, immediately after the complaints were submitted, the Paphos DA proceeded with thorough tests of both the water tanks and the water supply network that supplies the specific areas. These tests “did not reveal any problems, while the water was judged to be of excellent quality and absolutely suitable for consumption.”
According to the President of the Paphos EOA, these are isolated incidents of complaints, which were nevertheless treated with due seriousness. “Checks were carried out both in the water tanks and in the points of the network that are supplied by them, without detecting anything worrying,” he said.
Mr. Pittokopitis clarified that the relevant analyses did not show any alteration in either the smell, colour, or chemical and microbiological composition of the water, which confirms, as he said, its high quality.
At the same time, the President of the Paphos EOA said that the Organization will continue to closely monitor the situation, in order to ensure the quality of drinking water on a permanent basis and to immediately address any issue that may arise.
“The health and safety of citizens is an absolute priority for the Paphos EOA,” he concluded, calling on the public to contact the Organization in case anything unusual is observed.
