MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway
On the Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway, during the period 03/12/2025-30/01/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, the Department of Forestry will carry out pruning and shredding of branches on the slopes of the motorway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout and the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou.
During the period from 22 December 2025 to 29 January 2026, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 in the morning of the following day, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and holidays, on sections of the Larnaca Airport - Paralimni motorway, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the execution of the works, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island, from the Pyla area to the Rizoelia roundabout, will be closed, successively for a length of 100m. each time, simultaneously from both directions, at eight different points.
On the motorway, in the direction of Larnaca, in a section after the Ayia Napa exit, from Wednesday 07/01/2026 until Friday 09/01/2026, between the hours of 09:00 -17:00, work will be carried out to install electronic variable message signs. During the work, in the above section, the left lane will remain closed for a distance of 600m.
Also in the direction of Larnaca, in a section towards the Rizoelia roundabout, from Wednesday 07/01/2026 until Friday 09/01/2026, between the hours of 09:00 - 17:00, work will be carried out to install electronic variable message signs. During the works, in the above section, the left lane will remain closed for a distance of 600m.
On the Larnaca Airport to Paralimni motorway, along the entire length of the bridge above the airport roundabout, on Monday 12/01/2026, from 19:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, periodic road maintenance works will be carried out. During the works in the above section, both lanes of the Larnaca Airport to Paralimni motorway bridge will be closed and traffic will be diverted through the airport roundabout located below the bridge, using appropriate signage. Traffic to the airport will be unhindered.
Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway
On the Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou, during the period 03/12/2025-30/01/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, works will be carried out by the Forestry Department, on the slopes of the road.
Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway
On the motorway, in the direction towards Nicosia, in a section from the Rizoelia roundabout and for a distance of four (4) kilometers, from Wednesday 07/01/2026 until Friday 09/01/2026, between the hours of 09:00 – 17:00, works will be carried out for the installation of an electronic variable message sign. During the works, in the above section, the left lane will remain closed for a distance of 600m.
Limassol-Nicosia Motorway
On the motorway, in a section before the Skarinou exit in both directions, from Wednesday 07/01/2026 until Friday 09/01/2026, between the hours of 09:00 -17:00, works will be carried out for the installation of electronic variable message signs. During the works, in the above section, the left lane will remain closed for a distance of 600m.
On the motorway, in the direction of Nicosia, from Wednesday 07/01/2026 until Thursday 22/01/2026 except Fridays and weekends, between the hours of 20:00 at night and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road marking works will be carried out. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed in sections at any time for a length of approximately 500m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
Nicosia Perimeter Motorway
From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic towards Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction.
Limassol-Paphos Motorway
On the motorway, in a section before the exit Avdimou Road in both directions, from Thursday 08/01/2026 until Wednesday 14/01/2026, excluding weekends, between the hours of 09:00-17:00, work will be carried out to install electronic variable message signs. During the work, in the above section, the left lane will remain closed for a distance of 600m.
Nicosia District
In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, and are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.
On the Nicosia-Palaichori road, in a section of approximately 1.5 kilometers, from Saturday 06/12/2025, traffic will be diverted via a new bypass north of the existing road in two-way traffic, due to the construction works of the Nicosia-Palaichori motorway. Also, the existing road to Agios Ioannis will be closed and traffic towards Agios Ioannis will be diverted from the new junction of the road at the Malounta Roundabout. Traffic towards Malounta and the 2nd Regional High School of Nicosia will be diverted from the bypass of the existing road at a point 200 meters before the Malounta Roundabout.
On the Anthoupolis-Palaichori road, in the section of approximately 1.0 km from the existing junction with the road to Agrokipia, until the end of the motorway, from Saturday 10/01/2026, traffic will be conducted through a new bypass north of the existing road in two-way traffic. Also, the existing road to Agrokipia-Mitsero will be closed and traffic will be directed from the new junction of the road to the Agrokipia roundabout.
In Strovolos, as part of the Improvement/Construction Project of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and part of Tseriou Avenue, from Friday, January 9, 2026 at 12:00 noon, the traffic light-controlled intersection between Tseriou Avenue and Theofilou Georgiadis Street will reopen with temporary traffic management. At the same time, the temporary traffic light-controlled intersection that had been constructed with Vasilissis Amalias Street and then towards Theofilou Georgiadis Street will be closed to traffic.
Larnaca District
In Larnaca, on Limassol Avenue, during the period 31/12/2025-31/01/2026, sidewalk reconstruction works will be carried out, as part of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Lanes”. The works will be carried out in the section from the junction of Limassol Avenue with Charilaou Trikoupi Street to the height of Limassol Avenue near Ikarias Street. During the works, the left lane will be closed in sections, while traffic will be diverted to the right lane using appropriate and approved road markings.
In the Dromolaxia-Meneos area, on Monday 12/01/2026, from 08:00 in the morning until 16:00 in the afternoon, as part of the construction project of the new roundabout in Dromolaxia-Meneos, works will be carried out on the road surface of Eleftherias Street in Dromolaxia-Meneos. The section of the road of Eleftherias Street from the photo-controlled intersection with Artemidos Avenue to the intersection with Archbishop Makarios III Avenue will remain closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic from Larnaca to Kiti and vice versa will be channelled through Eleftherias, Agios Panteleimonas and Acropolis streets with the use of appropriate signage.
Also in the Dromolaxia-Meneou area, on Tuesday 13/01/2026, from 08:00 in the morning until 16:00 in the afternoon, as part of the construction project of the new roundabout in Dromolaxia-Meneou, work will be carried out on the road surface of Eleftherias Street in Dromolaxia-Meneou. The section of Eleftherias Street from the photo-controlled intersection with Artemidos Avenue to the intersection with Agios Panteleimonas Street will remain closed to traffic. During the works, traffic from Larnaca to Dromolaxia-Meneou will be carried out via Archbishop Makarios III Avenue with the use of appropriate signage. The route from Kiti to Larnaca and the airport will be routed through Acropolis, Eleftherias, Dimokratias and 25th March streets with the use of appropriate signage.
Also in the Dromolaxia-Meneou area, on Wednesday 14/01/2026, from 08:00 in the morning until 16:00 in the afternoon, as part of the construction project of the new roundabout in Dromolaxia-Meneou, work will be carried out on the road surface of Artemis Avenue in Dromolaxia. The section of Artemis Avenue from the first junction after the airport roundabout to the traffic light-controlled junction with Eleftherias Street will remain closed to traffic. During the works, traffic from Larnaca to Dromolaxia-Meneou and Kiti will be diverted via the secondary airport road that connects to Archbishop Makarios III Avenue with the use of appropriate signage. The route from Kiti and Dromolaxia-Meneou to Larnaca and the airport will be diverted via Eleftherias, Dimokratias and 25th March streets with the use of appropriate signage.
On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, as part of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C”, from Friday 19/12/2025 and for a period of four months, the works of the 5th and final phase of the Project will be carried out, on the section of the road from the height of the Organized Oroklini Beach (Keripteron) to the junction with Pyla. During the works, this section of the road will be closed to traffic in both directions and traffic will be diverted via Galaxia, Salaminos, Selinis and Oceanias streets, in Oroklini and Ithakis street, in Pyla. For residents and businesses in the area, appropriate arrangements will be made for access to their premises.
Also, within the framework of the construction works of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Improvement Project Phase C, from Monday 12/01/2026 until Saturday 17/01/2026, works will be carried out to raise manhole covers and install the surface asphalt layer on the Coastal Road, from the height of the Athens Road roundabout in Oroklini to the roundabout at the exit to Oroklini. During the works on the above section of approximately 400m in length, the traffic lanes in the direction from Larnaca to Dhekelia will be closed on 12/01/2026-14/01/2026, while for the direction from Dhekelia to Larnaca they will be closed on 15/01/2026-17/01/2026. Traffic from Larnaca to Dhekelia will be diverted throughout the duration via Athinon, Olympos, Bella-Pais and Christos Afxentiou Avenue in Oroklini, while traffic from Dhekelia to Larnaca will be diverted to the lanes of the Coastal Road that will not be closed.
Paphos District
On the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road, from Wednesday 07/01/2026 until Monday 09/02/2026, including weekends, work will be carried out to replace safety barriers on bridges, near the communities of Stroumbi, Miliou, Kato Akourdalia and Skoulli. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, which will operate in two-way traffic, using a temporary mobile traffic light system.
