The appointment of Andreas Paschalidis, former Judge of the Supreme Court and former President of the Independent Authority for Allegations and Complaints against the Police, as Independent Criminal Investigator, was decided by the Attorney General.
The Legal Service states that Mr. Paschalidis undertakes to conduct, in cooperation with the Police, investigations to investigate the possibility of any criminal offense being committed by any person, in relation to a video posted on the social networking platform "X".
The Legal Service also states that according to the terms of reference of his appointment "the investigation will be wide-ranging and will cover any issue related to the video in question, including, among others, its content, its authenticity, its origin, as well as the conditions and motives for its production and publication".
The mandate extends to any other matter that arises during the investigation.
