Filenews 24 December 2025 - by Dora Christodoulou
This year was a continuation of the record year of 2024 in terms of civil marriages in the Municipalities of Paphos, Akamas and Ierokipia. And the good news does not stop here, since pre-bookings, expressions of interest and all other data show that in 2026 these three Municipalities will proceed with the same success in terms of this particularly lucrative activity.
Information from "F" states in particular that the number of bookings from European countries for civil weddings in municipal halls and at the attractions of the municipal authorities for the next year is already significant. According to the competent officer of the office for civil marriages in the Municipality of Akamas, Maria Yiangou, in fact, the most remarkable thing is that in Pegeia reservations are no longer made only for 2026, but reach up to the following years.
As Ms. Yiangou characteristically said, in Pegeia reservations are now being made even for 2027. A fact, he points out, that demonstrates both the popularity of the area among foreign tourists, and the return for good of the civil marriage industry to the very high levels that were in force before the pandemic.
Ms. Yiangou also stressed that after 2024 and the current season closes as a great year in the industry, while in the coming years the situation is predicted to be very satisfactory since the booking calendar is already largely full for 2026 from this period.
From the ceremonies, the coffers were filled with significant amounts of money, as was the case in these two years in Paphos and Geroskipou, with the municipal authority of Akamas expressing its satisfaction with the launch of the whole activity.
The Mayor of Akamas, Marinos Lambrou, particularly emphasized the importance of restoring normality to the industry since it is one of the main financial revenues of the Municipality, which is traditionally considered one of the most popular destinations at an international level for civil weddings, due to the great natural landscapes it offers.
