The relevant numbers are recorded in response of the Minister of Justice to DISY MP Mr. Nikos Georgiou.
The calls in the year 2022 were 420.007, in 2023 470.693 and in 2024 405.985.
The minister's answer also records the following:
-The management of emergency calls 112 is carried out by the members of the Police serving in the Message Control Centers (KEM) of the Police Directorates of the Districts, with the exception of that of the Morphou Police Directorate, which is managed by the KEM of the Nicosia Police Directorate. Given that the members of KEM also perform various other duties of the center, the Chief of Police informed us that the question cannot be answered accurately. However, it is estimated that 24 hours a day and at any time, the management of 112 is carried out nationwide by about 10 members of the Police.
-The staff of the Message Control Centers (KEM) that handle the 112 emergency calls are composed only of members of the Police.
-From time to time, trainings/briefings are carried out for the members of the Police working in the KEM, as well as relevant instructions are given for the proper operation of the number 112, in accordance with a relevant police order. The last update of 112 users, both for the proper use of 112 and the necessary equipment, took place in May 2025. The new operators of the emergency number 112 receive the relevant information/training with their placement/transfer to the KEM.
