The Police warn of new scams, with astute people pretending to be doctors in order to deceive unsuspecting citizens.
Specifically, the perpetrators of the fraud communicate by phone with citizens and, pretending to be doctors, falsely state that a relative of the citizens who answer the phone call has been injured and needs immediate surgery and other medical care. The perpetrators are asking citizens to immediately pay large sums of money for medical expenses.
The Police recommends special caution, stressing that such telephone communications and allegations are false and aim to deceive citizens and steal large sums of money. The public is invited to, in case they receive similar types of phone calls, to inform the Police immediately, by contacting the nearest Police Station or the District TAE, or the Citizen's Line, at the telephone number 1460.
