The Fire Brigade was called upon to manage the extrication of citizens from vehicles, falling trees, flooding of underground areas of houses after yesterday's heavy rains in the province of Nicosia.
In total, the Fire Brigade received 75 calls related to the rains in Lakatamia, Anthoupoli, Strovolos and Engomi.
The Fire Service received more than 75 calls regarding water pumping from the basements of houses/apartment buildings, immobilized vehicles on the road network, sparking of cables from EAC above-ground cables, falling trees and cutting branches, opening rainwater wells.
He provided assistance to 2 students in a minibus and a disabled child in another vehicle, who were immobilized on the road after a quantity of water, on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, at the height of the APOEL stadium.
The students were transported to a safe place where they were picked up by another bus, the culverts were opened, and the vehicles were diverted with the help of the Police. No injuries.
Staff was recalled. 9 crews from the Fire Service and crews of the Civil Defense (1 crew), the E.O.A. (3 crews) as well as volunteer Support CY teams with (2 crews) and E.T.E.A. with (1 crew) responded to the incidents.
