PAPHOS - MAN IN INDECENT ATTIRE IN PUBLIC VIEW - COMPLAINTS

 Pafos Press 14 October 2025

Tourists and locals on a Paphos beach couldn't believe their eyes this morning when they saw a man in skimpy clothing enjoying the sun and sea while taking selfies. According to information, this is not the first time something like this has happened in the same area. The incident was recorded by a PafosPress reader, who also sent the relevant photos to the Police. According to the Law of Cyprus, such acts constitute an insult to public decency and can be considered an offense under the provisions on public order and morality.

The display of public nudity is regulated by the provisions of the Criminal Code, which includes articles on behaviour that offends social feelings and public morality, among which it can be considered an indecent act, which constitutes a misdemeanor and is punishable by up to two years in prison. Specifically, anyone who causes a nuisance or insults to passers-by commits an offense that may result in penalties or administrative measures. It is important to emphasize that the police generally intervene when there is a complaint or protest from the public, while in remote, isolated areas, if there is no testimony or observation, the intervention may be more difficult to implement.
