The works of the Second Phase of the development of Larnaca and Paphos airports are in full swing. With the completion of the projects, the parties hope that the travel experience of visitors will be upgraded and new prospects for tourism, trade and economic development will be created. The works for Phase B have already started at the end of March after the completion of the financing process, with the signing of the agreements with the Banks and the consortium Bouygues Batiment International SAS and Iacovou Brothers (Constructions) Ltd which has undertaken the construction works of Phase B. The total cost of the Phase B projects amounts to €170 million and will be fully covered by Hermes Airports.
At Larnaca Airport, the projects will cover a total area of approximately 20,000 sq.m. and include, among other things, the creation of a new wing with departure and arrival gates which will be connected to the main building, the addition of additional baggage claim belts, a new area for the processing of passport and security checks, the expansion of the commercial area as well as an increase in aircraft parking spaces.
As far as Paphos Airport is concerned, projects will be implemented that increase the capacity of the airport terminal by approximately 30%, significantly improving the passenger experience and the efficiency of controls and procedures. At the same time, the southern parallel taxiway will be extended, enhancing the operational flexibility of the airport.
With the completion of Phase B, the capacity of Larnaca Airport will reach 12.4 million passengers per year, while Paphos Airport will reach 5 million passengers.
