FREE ENTRANCE TO 16 ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES AND MONUMENTS ON 4 & 5 OCTOBER

 Filenews 2 October 2025

The Deputy Ministry of Culture and the Department of Antiquities announced free access to 16 monuments and archaeological sites on the weekend of October 4 and 5, as part of this year's celebrations for the European Heritage Days. As stated, the aim is to give citizens the opportunity to actively participate in this celebration of culture and to get to know up close the monuments that are custodians of collective memory.

It is noted that, especially for this two-day period, places that usually remain closed on weekends will be open to the public. These include the archaeological sites of Tamassos, Dali, Kiti and Kalavasos-Tenta, as well as the Royal Chapel in Pyrga.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of Cyprus, to get in touch with history and culture, but also to take advantage of the new digital guides that have already been installed in some areas.

The European Heritage Days, established by the European Union and the Council of Europe, are one of the most important cultural events in Europe, as thousands of monuments open their doors free of charge to the public. Cyprus has been participating since 1995 with various actions, but this year for the first time, by decision of the Deputy Minister of Culture, the Department of Antiquities offers free admission to archaeological sites and monuments, thus honouring the event.
