The green transition, defence and security are key axes of the development strategy for the province of Paphos, as recently announced by the President of the Republic.
In the field of the environment, there is a focus on projects that address chronic challenges, such as water scarcity. Important projects include:
The installation of a desalination plant in Kissonerga, amounting to €14.7 million.
Grant schemes for the installation of small desalination plants in hotels.
The construction of a fire station in Pegeia, amounting to €6.7 million, to enhance the safety of citizens.
The elaboration of breakwater plans for the protection of the southwest coast.
At the same time, the strategic importance of Paphos is strengthened in the field of defense, with the upgrade of the "Andreas Papandreou" Air Base. This development, together with the cooperation with the United States, confirms the regional role of Cyprus as a pillar of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The government emphasizes that the development of Paphos is not limited to the improvement of everyday life, but is a strategic investment in areas that will determine the future of Cyprus for decades to come.
