On the initiative of the president of the Community Council of Tala, Giannakis Konikkos and donations from businessmen in the area, the community of Tala is a pioneer in the issue of fire protection, building the first fire lookout station to shield it from the fiery storm that now threatens us every summer.
The fire lookout station has already been erected in the area of the chapel of Prophet Elias, which dominates the rare natural beauty green area surrounding the famous Monastery of Agios Neophytos. Speaking to "F", the president of the K.S. Talas, stressed that the fire lookout station has been built with private funding by businessmen in the area and the practical method of its operation has already been agreed with the Fire Brigade.
As Mr. Konikkos specifically explained, the fire lookout station will be staffed on a permanent basis by members of the Fire Service who will have at their disposal a large fire truck, for which the appropriate space for its movement and parking has already been created in the area of the outpost. The staffing of the fire lookout, he said, will concern the summer season, when the risk of fires is daily and very high.
The construction and operation of a fire lookout tower in the area is imperative, said the community leader of Tala, given that the huge area from the residential area of the community to the boundaries of Tsada and Koili is verdant and displays great landmarks, such as the famous Monastery of Agios Neophytos, the chapel of Agios Ephraim, but also telecommunications and television station facilities.
