Preparations are in full swing for the second Cyprus Rock Climbing Festival (CRCF) 2025, which will take place between 17-19 October 2025, at the Inia climbing area. The festival is being organised by the NGO Active Zone Outdoor, with its technical organising committee consisting of specialist climbing instructors. The event is under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, with the support of the Municipality of Akamas and the Inia Community Council.

As stated in a relevant announcement, the festival is non-profit and all net proceeds will be allocated to the maintenance of existing climbing fields as well as the opening of new climbing routes. The long-term goal of the organizers is for the festival to establish itself as a permanent institution, constantly promoting the area as a popular climbing destination for local and foreign visitors. This is a festival that has as its ultimate goal to attract local and foreign climbers as well as outdoor enthusiasts in order to experience the exciting vertical world of climbing. As stated, the festival aims to enhance interaction between participants, visitors and the local community of Inia. At the same time, it promotes social inclusion, giving all social groups the opportunity to participate and enjoy the sport of climbing. The three-day festival, it is added, will include climbing workshops for all levels, regardless of experience in the sport. Specialized workshops will also be held for families, people with disabilities and young people with fewer opportunities. All workshops will be conducted under the supervision and coordination of experienced, certified instructors. At the same time, a climbing competition will be held, where participants will test their strength in a friendly environment of fair competition. The festival will also host presentations at the picturesque Inia amphitheater, which will include: Stories about climbers’ experiences in international climbing destinations, a presentation on the natural environment of Akamas, an open dialogue on the environmental protection of sensitive areas during climbing, etc. One of this year’s innovations of the festival is the presence of Konstantina Alexandridou. As an adaptive climber, Konstantina will share her experience, demonstrating how climbing can be a sport for everyone, regardless of motor skills. In addition to the main events, the festival offers a variety of activities for all social groups. Visitors will be able to participate in hikes and an orienteering competition by the Orientaction club. At the same time, a photography competition will be held and there will be various games and activities such as treasure hunts, crafts and live music. The festival focuses on revitalizing the area and highlighting climbing as an opportunity for sustainable development. Emphasizing cooperation with the local community, it encourages participants to support the hospitality and catering infrastructure. At the same time, small local businesses will offer their products, thus contributing to the development of the area into a popular destination. The organizers express their sincere thanks to the outdoor clothing and equipment company The North Face, the Gold Sponsor of the festival. Their valuable support, they add, strengthens the event and confirms the common philosophy, which is based on the promotion of exploration and the love of sports and nature. The organizers also announce their partnership with the organization RESET, which will be the official Accessibility Partner of the festival on accessibility issues.
