The beauty of each person lies in the goodness of his heart, and not in his outward appearance. We are reminded of this great truth by the fairy tale "The Ugly Prince", which was written by Galatea Kazantzakis, the first wife of Nikos Kazantzakis. The conductor and composer Alkis Baltas has adapted the text and has edited the soundtrack, which includes the "Unfinished" Symphony no. 8 by Franz Schubert and the German dance by the same composer in an adaptation by Anton Webern.
The story of Aesop's well-known fable "The Hare and the Tortoise" is simple and entertaining. The swift-footed hare and the ever-slow-moving turtle agree to outrun the run. Who will win? Through this myth, Aesop (625-560 BC) teaches us how wrong it is to behave with arrogance and that we should never underestimate anyone and make fun of the weak. It also teaches us that strength is not enough to win in life. To achieve our goals, what counts is patience and serious perseverance.
In between the narration, the following will be heard: songs by Mikis Theodorakis, Spyridon Xyndas, Kostas Cacoyannis, Dimitris Maragopoulos, Alkis Baltas, a traditional song from the Dodecanese as well as two songs by Giorgos Hatzipieris from the beloved series "The Lazy Dragon". The music has been imaginatively orchestrated by Alkis Baltas, while the story of the myth was adapted by Vicky Stylianou. The music story will be accompanied by image projections and short videos!
