The two semiconductor tech giants have reached an agreement with the White House as a condition of issuing export licenses to the Chinese market, which were approved last week. The information was confirmed by sources cited by the FT, including an American official.
According to the same official, Nvidia will share 15% of the revenue from sales of H20 chips in China, while AMD will yield the same percentage of MI308 chips. Two sources with knowledge of the deal said Donald Trump's administration has not yet decided how to use the proceeds.
Last week, Nvidia CEO Jensen Hwang met with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to the FT.
In a statement, Nvidia said: "We follow the rules set by the U.S. government for our participation in global markets."
At the same time, Trump had said he would impose 100 percent tariffs on semiconductor and chip imports unless the companies produce in the U.S.
