SYRIANS INVOLVED IN CLASH IN ZAKAKI DEPORTED - 8,000 MIGRANTS REPATRIATED SINCE JANUARY

 Filenews 15 August 2025

Persons of Syrian origin who took part in a clash on Thursday, August 7, 2025, in the Zakaki area of Limassol, were deported from Cyprus, following coordinated actions by the Ministry of Justice and Public Order and the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection.

Competent sources said that this action is part of the strict immigration policy followed by the Government.

As they noted, the Republic of Cyprus is taking and will continue to take strict measures in case foreigners, who have either applied for or have received international protection status, commit criminal offences and/or demonstrate delinquent behaviour.

They also pointed out that more than 3,600 Syrians have left Cyprus since December 9, 2024, while from January 2025 until today, a total of more than 8,000 third-country nationals have been repatriated.

They also recalled that in 2024 a total of 10,092 third-country nationals were repatriated and in 2023 a total of 9,193.

The figures demonstrate the steadily increasing attitude of repatriations and confirm the government's effective migration policy, they concluded.
