YELLOW WEATHER WARNING AGAIN TODAY - FORECAST FOR TEMPERATURE REDUCTION THEN INCREASE AGAIN IN COMING DAYS

The yellow warning issued by the Meteorology Department for extreme maximum temperatures is in effect. The warning was in effect from midnight until 4:30 p.m. this afternoon. Today, the temperature will rise to around 40 degrees inland, around 37 on the east and south coasts and around 33 degrees on the rest of the coast, as well as in the higher mountains.

The weather forecast is as follows: Seasonal low pressure and warm air mass affect the area. Today the weather will be mainly clear. Winds will blow mainly southwest to northwest, initially weak to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort and later locally in the southwest to very strong 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will initially be slightly rough, gradually becoming rough. The temperature will rise to around 40 degrees inland, around 37 on the east and south coasts and around 33 degrees on the rest of the coasts, as well as in the higher mountains. Tonight the weather will generally be mainly clear, although mainly in the west and north increased low clouds will be observed. Winds will blow mainly northwest, weak to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough to rough. The temperature will drop to around 23 degrees inland, around 24 on the coast and around 19 degrees in the higher mountains. On Saturday and Sunday the weather will be mainly clear, although temporarily locally increased clouds will be observed. On Monday the weather will be mainly clear. The temperature will drop on Saturday and not change significantly until Monday, to fluctuate close to average climatic values.

In the 10-day forecasts in the Locations you will notice that the extreme heat wave that has affected our region in recent days is receding from Friday evening to Saturday, with the mercury dropping significantly and returning to normal levels for the season until the first half of next week. At the same time, a significant increase in winds is expected this afternoon, Friday, with winds remaining strong in the afternoons until the beginning of next week, mainly in the south/southeast. Also, an increase in humidity levels is expected from Friday evening onwards, with low clouds appearing mainly in the evenings and morning hours. During the second half of next week, there is a tendency for temperatures to rise and it is possible that we will approach or even reach 40°C.
