PETRA TOU ROMIOU ROAD RE-OPENS

The project for the stabilization of a section of road near Petra tou Romiou has been completed, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works says in a statement. 

Specifically, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, Department of Public Works, reports that the works for the construction of stabilization measures for a section of the old Paphos-Limassol road (B6) near Petra tou Romiou, Phase B, where a serious landslide occurred, were completed today, Friday 08/08/2025. The road is now open to traffic. 

As mentioned, the project included works for the construction of piles, the coupling of the piles through the construction of headbands and transverse foundation beams, works for the rehabilitation of the subsoil and the provision of suitable drainage devices, the construction of a retaining wall on the north side of the road, works for the management of rainwater and safety barriers, road signage and road construction services (asphalt, foundation, subfoundation). 

The duration of the construction of the project was 12 months, while the period of liability for defects was set at 18 months. 

The works, the announcement adds, started on May 13, 2024 and were completed on August 08, 2025, for an expense of €3,292,300+VAT, according to the initial amount of the contract. The contractor is Cybarco Contracting Limited. The project was funded by the Republic of Cyprus.
