TENDER ANNOUNCED FOR 1st PHASE OF PAPHOS-POLIS ROAD - ESTIMATED €90million

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announced the tender for the completion of the study and construction of the first phase of the Paphos – Polis Chrysochous motorway, from Agia Marinouda to Stroumbi, with an estimated cost of €90,200,000, excluding VAT, on Friday. 

In a statement, the Department of Public Works of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, states that a tender was announced on Friday for the completion of the design and construction of the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous motorway, Section 1 – Phase (A), with a deadline for the submission of tenders on November 7, 2025. 

The project, he notes, concerns the completion of the design and construction of the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous motorway Section 1, Phase (A) from Agia Marinouda to Stroumbi, 15.5 km long. approximately, with two traffic lanes and an uphill lane, "where required, with the prospect and provision for the construction of the other two lanes in a future phase, as described in detail in the tender documents".

It is added that the project includes an interchange at the beginning of the project, at the point of connection with the Limassol-Paphos motorway near Ag. Marinouda, a level interchange in the area of Tsada and a terminal roundabout, after the village of Stroumbi, as well as five valley bridges, two tunnels – one next to the area of Tsada, 720 m long and one next to the area of the village of Kallepeia, 250 m long, four overpasses, twelve underpasses, rainwater drains, street lighting, utilities, as well as projects and works related to the highway.

The tender, it is noted, will be conducted through an open procedure, and the award criterion has been defined as the most economically advantageous tender, based on the lowest price. The construction duration of the project is 30 months, while the defect liability period was set at 60 months. The project is financed by national funds.
