A large amount of garbage was removed by volunteers from Lady's Mile beach.
According to a relevant post by four organizations, yesterday, Sunday, August 24, in just one hour of cleaning, our volunteers removed 134 kilos of garbage from Lady's Mile beach. That is, double the amount from last year's record.
"On a beach, where there is intensive tourist use, with several infrastructures on the coastline, the results of garbage registration showed that 86% was plastic waste, small but also bulky objects," the volunteers say.
The post ends with a "thank you" to the volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to protect this unique place. "As in any clean-up, our team and volunteers are the driving force in protecting the environment!"
