In the context of the planned creation of municipal museums in the historic centre of the city, the Municipality of Paphos appeals to all owners of objects related to the history and tradition of the city of Paphos to make them available to the Municipality in order to be evaluated by experts for possible inclusion in the exhibits of these museums.
The receipt and management of the objects during their evaluation stage and before their exhibition in museums, will be done under conditions and conditions that will ensure their protection and integrity. The objects or collections that will be donated to the Municipality will bear accompanying signs in which their donors will be commemorated. In case owners of items wish to lend them for a specific period, they will be able to lend them under the long-term loan regime. In this case, too, the name of the lender will be written on the accompanying sign.
Indicative list of objects that can be exhibits in the municipal museums under establishment
1. Photographic and audiovisual material concerning the history of Sports in the city and the District of Paphos (events/events, athletes, actors, etc.)
2. Books, handwritten notes, diaries, correspondence, notebooks, maps, stamps, receipts, newspapers and magazines of the period, lithographs, copperplate engravings, posters, sketches, programs, etc. concerning persons and events from the field of Sports
3. Press reports about Sports figures and events
4. Flags/banners, prizes/awards, honorary plaques, medals and other means of honorary distinction concerning organized groups and persons in the field of Sports
5. Works of Art from the Eastern Mediterranean region: paintings, sculptures, engravings, silverware, carpets, etc.
6. Collections of legally held antiquities
7. Relics from the Byzantine Period: manuscripts, old prints, icons, wall paintings, vestments, miniature objects, sculptures, wood carvings, etc.
8. Old musical instruments
9. Objects from the world of the sea.
