BEACH CLEAN UP CAMPAIGN

 Pafos Live 4 July 2025

The organizations Youth of Ecologists, Ecological Movement of Cyprus, the Center for Social Innovation and RESET-Research and Education in Social Empowerment and Transformation are co-organizing this year's well-established pan-Cypriot campaign for cleaning beaches and counting marine litter, with the slogan "Wısh you were clean" Vol VI.

A total of four (4) beach clean-ups are organized throughout Cyprus to tackle pollution and preserve the natural environment.

The aim of the campaign is not only to eliminate waste from the coasts, but also to raise awareness among citizens of the importance of reducing pollution in the seas and coasts. At the same time, the clean-up campaign and the scientific action of recording waste in the same places over time, is a reminder of the huge problem of plastic waste (especially single-use plastic) in marine ecosystems and its impact on human health. Recent research has published alarming results where microplastic particles were detected for the first time in human blood.

For this reason, the campaign aims to promote volunteerism, collectivity, respect for nature and the joy we receive when we give to the environment.
