YELLOW WEATHER WARNING FOR TODAY

The Meteorology Department issued a yellow warning for extreme maximum temperatures today, Friday (27/6), on Thursday afternoon.

As reported, the maximum indoor temperature is expected to rise to around 41 degrees Celsius.

The warning is valid for the period between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., the Department concludes.

This is the forecast:

Seasonal low pressure and warm air masses affect the area.

Today, the weather will be mainly clear. The winds will initially blow northeasterly to southeasterly and locally variable, weak, 3 Beaufort, to gradually become mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and temporarily on the south coast to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough. The temperature will rise to around 41 degrees inland, around 35 on the southeast and east coasts, around 33 on the southwest, west and north coasts and around 32 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will remain mainly clear. Later and during the dawn hours, local low cloudiness and light fog or mist may form, especially on the east and south coasts. Winds will blow mainly southwest to northwest and locally variable, weak, 3 Beaufort. The sea will remain calm to slightly rough. The temperature will drop to around 22 degrees inland and on the coasts and around 20 degrees in the higher mountains.

Over the weekend, the weather will be mainly clear, however, during the afternoon and after, locally increased cloudiness will be observed, mainly in the mountainous areas.
On Monday, in most areas of the island, the weather will be mainly clear, however, locally increased cloudiness will be observed at intervals. In the mountainous areas, however, during the afternoon hours and after, clouds that will develop are expected to give isolated rain, without ruling out the occurrence of an isolated storm.  

The temperature is not expected to change significantly until Sunday, remaining above normal levels. However, on Monday, the temperature is expected to drop, to hover close to the average climatic values ​​of the season.
