The Police have received new complaints about false messages through social networking sites and/or SMS messages on mobile phones, through which citizens are invited to follow a specific electronic link, in order to pay extrajudicial fines for alleged traffic police violations.

The purpose of the perpetrators is to defraud and extract money or personal information.

The Police inform the public again that they never communicate with citizens in this way or through any other communication platform to invite citizens to pay any fines or for any other reason.

As a measure to protect against such online scams, the Police draw the attention of citizens, especially when they receive messages containing electronic links. What to do if you receive such messages:
