THE BRITISH BASES WERE NOT USED

 Pafos Live 23 June 2025

Britain did not accept a request from the United States to use its base in Diego Garcia for U.S. strikes on Iran, but it was briefed on them before the attack, Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said on Sunday.

Reynolds said Britain had moved military elements to the region and would take "all necessary action" to defend its allies if threatened. He added that Prime Minister Keir Starmer was talking to allies today.

"There was no request," the minister told Sky News. "I know that, because of the British military elements, Akrotiri (in Cyprus) or Diego Garcia, sometimes this request is made. And this was not a situation in which this request was made."

Reynolds added that Britain had been informed of the strikes.

"I can't tell you exactly when we knew, but we were informed, as you might have expected," he said.
