PAPHOS PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION CONCERN ABOUT DISTRICT PROJECTS

 Pafos Press 28 June 2025

The Paphos Public Administration expresses its strong concern about the stagnation or delay observed in the implementation of basic and necessary infrastructure projects in the District.

A delegation of the party's District Committee met with the District Engineer of the Department of Public Works, Antigoni Tillyrou, who informed them about the progress of the planned projects and their completion schedules.

As it was established, one of the most important and essential projects of the city and the province, the road between the Airport and the Paphos Tourist Area, unfortunately remains in the "unclaimed" areas - due to the inability to find a solution to the well-known environmental problem - with the danger now visible that it will be definitively led to the Greek calendars, despite the millions that have already been spent on the construction of the first part of the project. This is clearly a particularly negative development with serious consequences for the further upgrading and progress of the Paphos tourism industry.

Another much-discussed road project of Paphos Tourism also remains at an early stage, since the Study for the construction of the new road Tombs of the Kings – Coral Bay, is not expected to be completed before the end of this year.

The much-publicized new Paphos – Polis Chrysochous road, after the well-known adventures, is in the bidding phase for the continuation of the project, while the project to improve the old road is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The Paphos Public Works Authority also expresses its concern about the serious shortage of hourly paid staff faced by the Department, which causes significant problems in the supervision, and consequently in the timely completion, of the District's projects under construction.
