Filenews 30 April 2025
On 24/4/2025, an officer of the Customs Department went to a private Temporary Warehouse of Goods in Limassol to inspect the transshipment of goods (pesticides), from a container imported from China to a container destined for Libya.

During the inspection, which took place in the presence of officials of the Department of Agriculture, it was observed that the packaging of the pesticides, which were contained in 513 boxes with a total weight of more than 5 tons, was incorrectly labelled that they were a product of the European Union (Made in EU) and that the manufacturer/supplier of the pesticides was the company importing them to Cyprus from China.
It is noted that the instructions for use and protection were in Arabic, due to the final destination in Libya, while the circulation of these products within the EU is prohibited. The goods were seized by the Customs Department, the container was sealed and any movement from the Temporary Storage Warehouse was prohibited.

The case is being further investigated by the Customs Department in cooperation with the co-competent services of the state.
