On 27/4/2025 and 29/4/2025, after evaluating information, officers of the Customs Department at Larnaca Airport stopped for inspection a passenger with Russian nationality and a passenger with Cypriot citizenship respectively, who arrived from Basel, Switzerland.
During the check of the passenger's luggage on 27/4/2025, a luxury watch worth €22,000 was found, which had not been declared by the passenger for the payment of the corresponding duties and taxes.

The watch was confiscated and later handed over to the passenger, after a proposal for an out-of-court settlement of the case was accepted with the payment of an amount of €1,830. The corresponding duties and taxes of a total value of €4,180 were also paid, as well as a financial burden on the debt of €418.
During the check of the passenger's luggage on 29/4/2025, a luxury watch and a bag with a total value of €25,984 were found, which had not been declared by the passenger for the payment of the corresponding duties and taxes.

The goods in question were seized and later handed over to the passenger, after a proposal for an out-of-court settlement of the case was accepted with the payment of an amount of €1,700. The corresponding duties and taxes of a total value of €5,046 were also paid, as well as a financial burden on the debt of €504.
