The Ministry of Interior has issued clarifications regarding the procedure for recording and repairing damage to solar water heaters, following a large number of requests it has received.
In order to speed up the process, the owners of the affected houses are requested to proceed with the repair of the damage without waiting for an on-site inspection by a representative of the District Administrations.
After the repair, interested parties should fill in the relevant form, which is available on the website of the Ministry of Interior and the District Administrations, and submit it by Friday, March 14, 2025 to the competent services.
Information required for submission of the form
Owners will need to provide the following documents:
- Personal information (name, ID number, address, telephone).
- Photos of the water heater before and after repair.
- Description of work by the plumber.
- Payment invoices for the fix.
- Completed FIMAS authorization form.
- Copy of IBAN for the payment of any financial support.
- Solemn declaration of the owner that the details of the application are true.
- Statement that there is no insurance coverage for the specific damage.

The Ministry of Interior announced that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry, it will forward to the Council of Ministers a proposal to pay financial assistance to citizens whose solar water heaters in residential units were damaged due to the low temperatures of recent days.
An announcement by the ministry invites all those affected to contact, by next Friday, February 28, the relevant District Administrations, in order to schedule a workshop visit to their premises.
The crews will record and evaluate the damage and a cost assessment will be carried out.
