In order to ensure zero discharge of sewage and treated water in the wider area of Akrotiri Salt Lake, a wide meeting of all stakeholders was held last Thursday in Limassol.
During the meeting, it was decided that the Sala will present within 15 days a list of all premises in the area that have not been connected to the sewerage system. It is noted that large businesses, even some that have been operating for years, have not been connected or have been partially connected to the sewer.
Immediately after the preparation of the relevant list by the SALA, an action plan will be prepared to schedule their connection so that premises do not continue to operate without being connected to the system.
The second issue that concerned those involved concerns the preparation of a study covering more broadly the issue of rainwater management.
As it was said, in a month the outline of the study will be ready and a timetable will be prepared for the development of the area to address the problem from the channelling of large quantities of rainwater.
