FROM TODAY - COMPETITIVE ELECTRICITY MARKET TRIAL PERIOD OF OPERATION

 Filenews 7 January 2025

The Trial Operation Period (TOP) of the Competitive Electricity Market (CEM) begins today, Tuesday, January 7, according to the Cyprus Transmission System Operator (TSO). In its announcement, the TSO states that it is organizing a training day on the use of the Market Management System (MS), and that the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, George Papanastasiou, will attend the day.

It adds that it is organizing a second day on the use of the Market Management System (MS) on January 9, clarifying that participation rights are those Legal/Natural Persons who received a certificate of readiness for participation in the Trial Operation Period (TOP), inviting beneficiaries to send statements of interest. In particular, the Cyprus TSO informs that the workshops will take place in person at the new building of the TSO and that the first workshop on 7/1/25 will concern the use of the SDS in the operation of financial markets and will be addressed to all AAH PLL Participants regardless of status. In addition to the presentation of the use of the SDS, on-site tests will be carried out on the SDS by the Participants in order to better assimilate the new knowledge. The second workshop on 9/1/25 will concern the use of the SDS in the operation of the Real Time Balancing Market (REAL-Time Balancing Market) and will be addressed to Participants in their capacity as Producers, who have the ability to receive and execute allocation orders. Participants in their capacity as RES Producers and RES Aggregators will be informed on how they will participate in the GFCF during the first workshop. It further notes that Participants should have their credentials to access the SDS and bring with them equipment (computer) for testing. Participation in the workshops is voluntary. Legal/Natural Entities are invited to submit a registration for 2 participants plus 1 runner-up, which will be included in the participants depending on the availability of places. It is emphasized that priority will be given for face-to-face participation to those interested Legal/Natural Persons who did not participate in the two previous test functions of the SDS and connect to the SDS through a GUI (and not through an interface of their own system with the SDS).

Therefore, if the available places for face-to-face participation in the workshops are filled, the rest of those interested will be able to participate in the workshops remotely, through Microsoft Teams. (CNA/MPH/HF)
