UK GOVERNMENT SERVICE PENSIONS
It appears that letters are on their way to advise that as from 1 January 2025 you will have to pay tax on your Government service pension [not state pension, but where you worked for the Government or a local authority, ie doctors, nurses, army, civil servants, police, etc] in the UK, not in Cyprus.
Below you will see an example of the letter which is being issued.
A resident has contacted the helpline and been told that they should complete and submit a form DT Individual to the UK authorities if they wished their Government Service pension to be taxed in Cyprus from 1 January 2025. Whether this will have any impact, it is too soon to say, but it is perhaps worth a try.
Double Taxation: Treaty Relief (Form DT-Individual)
Use form DT-Individual to apply for relief at source from UK Income Tax and to claim repayment of UK Income Tax.
