ETAP WELCOMES DECISION OF PAPHOS MUNICIPALITY RE SCOOTERS - AND RAISES AGAIN THE ISSUE OF TWO/THREE WHEELED ELECTRICAL CYCLES

ETAP WELCOMES THE DECISION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF PAPHOS TO BAN SCOOTERS The Tourism Development and Promotion Company of the Paphos Region welcomes the decision of the Municipality of Paphos for the Prohibition of the Circulation of Scooter-type Personal Mobility Devices in Public Roads of the Municipality of Paphos. It is an important decision which is also positive from a tourism point of view since it is expected to reduce risks and to promote safety in the city of Paphos, including among foreign drivers mainly rental cars but also pedestrians.
At the same time, ETAP Paphos would like to take this opportunity to bring back the serious issue that exists in pedestrian street of Kato Paphos from the height of the Medieval Castle-Lighthouse to the borders of Chloraka with the launch of two- and three-wheel electric machines. Unfortunately, these are a death risk day and night, with drivers of all ages, from 8-60 years, developing speeds of 30-45 km and they drive among dozens of pedestrians who enjoy their walk scattering them, causing terror and stress.
In closing, we invite other municipalities and communities of Pafos district to consider the possibility of banning the devices in question as well as two- and three-cycle electric machines so that locals and foreigners to enjoy safer roads and footpaths, with fewer risks.
