Eleven foreigners residing illegally in Cyprus returned to their countries of origin, following immediate actions by the Aliens and Immigration Service, as part of the Police's efforts to return third-country nationals residing illegally in our country. The eleven foreigners had been identified and arrested just the day before yesterday, during an operation by UNHCR, in Paphos.
The operation took place between the hours of 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. , by members of UNHCR&M and the Green Line Surveillance Sub-Directorate. During the raid, five men and six women were identified and arrested, who were found to be staying illegally in Cyprus.
They were issued with detention and deportation and immediate action by UNHCR's Return Office at around 8pm. of the same day they departed for their homeland, on a flight from Larnaka airport.
The Police continues to focus its efforts on maximizing the number of repatriations of third-country nationals residing illegally in Cyprus, in coordination with other competent Services.
