The Budget of the Ministry of Transport for the year 2025 amounts to €789,593,000, as the Minister of Transport said while presenting the budget of his ministry, which is increased by 19% compared to 2024.
Of the total budget, €554 million. concern projects of the Ministry itself, while the remaining €276 million. concern projects of other ministries that will be implemented by the Ministry of Transport. The ministry's revenues, which go to the state, will amount to €373.2 million.
Among the main projects to be implemented are the Astromeritis-Evrychou Motorway, costing €88.6 million, the Paphos-Polis motorway, costing €86.9 million. and the Nicosia-Palaichori motorway €77.6 million.
Regarding the buildings under construction, the Minister referred to the Cyprus Museum with a budget of €143.9 million, the accommodation centre "Limnes" costing €101 million, the Ayia Napa fire station costing €6.9 million, the Pancyprian Blood Centre €7.8 million, the creation of a Press Centre (for the EU presidency) €12.9 million. and the upgrade of the Spyros Stadium Kyprianou a cost of €14.5 million.
In the ongoing projects of other ministries, Mr. Vafeadis noted the improvement of Ippokratous and Argyroupoleos avenues, the Larnaka-Dhekelia coastal road €17.7 million, the fencing of the Vasilikos energy center €3.8 million, the headquarters of the Department of Lands costing €22.3 million and the conversion of the "ASTRA" building into a family court costing €5 million.
In the projects under funding, it recorded the maintenance of bus stops costing €43.6 million. and the construction of works for the protection of the coastal front of Oroklini €10.3 million.
Regarding the projects that will be signed in the next 12 months, the minister said that they amount to €175 million. of which €114 million concerns projects of the Ministry itself and projects of €61 million concerning other ministries.
The projects, which are expected to be announced by the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, amount to €696 million. Of these, €391.5 relate to projects of the ministry itself and €304.5 to works of other ministries.
Regarding revenues from the Limassol port, the minister said that to date they amounted to €417 million with an increasing trend.
Regarding the sustainable mobility plans, he said that €6.72 million will be allocated for Nicosia. in the period 2024-2025.
€87.7 million will be allocated to public transport.
