Filenews 20 October 2024
A new incident was caused last night in Finikoudes between groups of youths who were caught in the hands and started throwing chairs in front of the eyes of terrified café patrons, who were removed from the area.

This follows on from an incident a month ago that resulted in two injuries, as well as others that local businessmen have been denouncing lately.
As seen in photographs and other audiovisual material that has come to light, those involved grab chairs from adjacent cafeterias and throw them at each other. As a result, restaurant equipment was damaged.

Police forces rushed to the scene but the youths managed to leave the area and are being sought.
Businessmen in the area who contacted Filenews said that fights between youths are now very common in the area. Last night, as we were told, many of their customers, including families with children, were forced to leave the area altogether.

According to the Police, at 02:50 in the morning, a report was received about a fire in a vehicle in the area of Agia Fyla in Limassol. The Fire Brigade was immediately notified and an officer and members of the Police arrived at the scene to conduct investigations. It was found that the fire was caused by a car owned by a 74-year-old woman, which was parked in the yard of her residence. The fire had already been extinguished before the arrival of the authorities, thanks to the efforts of the owner and her husband.
The 74-year-old told authorities that at about 2:30 a.m., while she was sleeping, she heard a noise of glass breaking. Opening the window of her room facing the courtyard, she saw a man holding a plastic bottle that appeared to contain flammable material. The assailant threw her inside her car and then set fire to a piece of clothing, which he threw into the vehicle. The fire spread inside the vehicle and the attacker fled south.
The 74-year-old, along with her husband, managed to extinguish the fire using a garden hose before it caused more damage. However, damage to the vehicle is estimated at 3,000 euros.
