Within 24 hours, the Fire Brigade responded to calls for 22 fires, according to a post by the Force's spokesman Andreas Kettis on platform "X".
In total, the Fire Service "responded to 26 incidents, 22 fires and 14 special services in the last 24 hours."
In detail and according to the spokesperson of the Fire Service:
At 19:30 the Service responded with a team and a rescue vehicle from Larnaka fire stations to rescue trapped people in a passenger vehicle inside Larnaka salt lake. "Three people (foreigners) were rescued after illegally and recklessly entering the salt lake."
At 21:33 the Limassol Fire Brigade responded with two vehicles to a fire in a vehicle in a banquet centre parking lot. The fire caused extensive damage to the vehicle.
The fire was also spread and extinguished by firefighting teams and half a dozen dry grass. No one was in danger. It seems at first sight that the fire was due to a mechanical or electrical problem suffered by the vehicle.
At 02:58 there was a response of the Limassol fire brigade stations with two manned vehicles to a fire in a vehicle in Limassol which was parked in the yard of the owner's house. The fire caused extensive damage to the interior.
The fire was extinguished by the owner before the arrival of the fire brigade. The causes will be investigated today.
