CIVIL DEFENCE - NEW REGISTRATIONS

An announcement was issued by the Civil Defence Force for registration and enlistment for two years of service.

Specifically, the Civil Defence Force announces that, following a Decision of the Council of Ministers, in accordance with the Civil Defence (General) Regulations of 1997 and a relevant Notification of the Minister of the Interior, all women of the Republic born in the year 2002 and all men of the Republic born in the year 1970 have been called up for registration and enlistment for two years' service in the Force. and reside in the territorial areas of the Republic.

The registration and classification of the obligated persons will take place at the Offices of the Regional Directorates of Civil Defence (PEDPA) per District, at the local Civil Defence Stations / Civil Defence Substations or at the Offices of the Community Councils, depending on their place of residence.

Registration starts from Monday, October 21, 2024, until Friday, October 25, 2024, for female citizens and from Monday, November 18, 2024, until Friday, November 22, 2024, for male citizens, during the following hours:

Nicosia and Larnaka districts:
For city areas:from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Offices of the Regional Directorates of Civil Defence (PEDPA) per District.
For rural areas:from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Offices of the Regional Directorates of Civil Defence (PEDPA) per District, or from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the local Stations or at the Offices of the Community Councils, depending on their place of residence.
Limassol District:
For city areas:from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Offices of the Limassol Regional Directorate of Civil Defence (PEDPA Limassol).
For rural areas:from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Offices of the Community Councils and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Offices of the Regional Directorate of Civil Defence of Limassol.
For the Paphos District:
For city areas:from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Offices of the Pafos Regional Directorate of Civil Defence.
For the rest of the regionsfrom 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at local Stations / Substations.
For Famagusta District:
For the Municipality of Paralimni:from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Offices of the Famagusta Regional Directorate of Civil Defence.
For the rest of the regionsfrom 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at local Stations / Substations / Municipalities / Communities.

All those who will come for registration and enlistment must bring with them a Civil Identity Card.

The following are excluded from the obligation to serve in the Force:

  1. Members of the Council of Ministers, members of the House of Representatives, Judges, members of the Public Service Commission, members of the Education Service Commission, Directors General in the Council of Ministers, Director General of the House of Representatives, Directors or Heads of government departments or other state services, Directors of Public Law Organizations and members of the Central Council and District Councils for Civil Defence.
  2. The clergy.
  3. Those who serve on a permanent basis in the Civil Defence Force, the Cyprus Army, the National Guard, the Police, the Fire Service or in prisons.
  4. Those who perform their service in the National Guard, those who have performed their service in the National Guard and belong to classes of the National Guard who have not been discharged from its reserve and those who, due to special qualifications, are in any way integrated into the reserve or other units of the National Guard, except persons to whom special reference is made in the National Guard legislation or to whom, under the National Guard legislation, an exemption or suspension from the obligation to serve in the National Guard has been granted.
  5. Persons serving in a service, which has been declared "Essential Service" under the provisions of Article 6 of the Law and who are designated for the implementation of the civil defense plan of this Service, who have been assigned responsibilities and obligations, in accordance with the Regulations, to deal with the consequences of hostile actions.

It is clarified that all those who belong to the above groups must come for registration normally, providing the necessary supporting documents and then an exemption from the obligation to serve in the Force will be granted to those who meet the criteria.
