OPERA - TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS

Everything is ready for the great cultural event in Paphos and the iconic opera "La Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi. The scenery has been set in the Medieval castle of Kato Pafos, the performers are on their feet and on Thursday afternoon there will be a dress rehearsal, so they can prepare for the next two-day cultural extravaganza.

Specifically, with the rich and strong legacy of the previous events of the period 1999-2019, the "Pafos Aphrodite Festival" restarts this year to confirm with its quality and scope the title of the leading independent cultural institution of our country.

According to an announcement by the Municipality of Paphos, as part of the 22nd "Pafos Aphrodite Festival", tomorrow Friday 6 and Saturday 7 September, the State Opera and Ballet Theater of Tbilisi will present the iconic opera "La Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi in a production in which the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra also participates.

The performances will take place in the Square of the Medieval Castle of Paphos, starting at 7.30 pm.

The restart of the Festival is supported by the State through the Deputy Ministry of Culture as the Institutional Sponsor of the "Pafos Aphrodite Festival" since its establishment in 1999, OPAP Cyprus as a Major Sponsor, the Bank of Cyprus as a Sponsor, the Cyprus Radio Foundation, the Journalistic Organization "The Phileleftheros", the radio stations Love Radio and Channel Six as Communication Sponsors and the Kanika Hotels & Resorts Group as Hospitality Sponsor.

Tickets, whose price ranges from €35 to €90, are available through the Ticket Master online platform: www.ticketmaster.cy (tel. 77777040) and at all ACS Courier stores.

The organizer and administrator of the Festival since its establishment is the company Pafos Aphrodite Festival Cyprus, which is wholly owned by the Municipality of Paphos.

In the meantime, in order to run the Festival smoothly and to avoid causing inconvenience to those affected, the following arrangements have been made, according to the Municipality of Paphos.

On Apostolou Pavlou Avenue, at the level of the roundabout in front of Kings Avenue Mall and on the seaside Poseidonos Avenue, at the level of the "Almyra" hotel, there will be control and guidance points for the drivers during the evenings of the performances (Friday and Saturday). From 6.30 p.m. non-ticket or pass holders will not be allowed to continue the journey from the said points to Limanaki.

Drivers heading to Limanaki (ticket or entry card holders) will be able to park in the Archaeological Park Parking Area, in the area next to the "Hondros" restaurant, in the area behind the Cyprus Ports Authority buildings and in the open area next to the Visitor Center of the Archaeological Site (formerly the "Kyklos" Gallery).

Drivers who are not related to the performances of the Festival can park in the Parking Area in front of the “Amavi” hotel, in the Parking Area of ​​Apollonos Street (in front of the Kato Pafos Cemetery), in the field of the 6th Primary School and in the vicinity of the Church Agioi Anargyro.

At junctions of roads and at other points of the route to Limanaki there will be members of the Police and the Traffic Service who will manage traffic and guide drivers.  

The Municipality of Pafos appeals to the drivers to comply with the instructions of the bodies on duty and with the relevant signage to avoid accidents and inconvenience, the announcement concludes.
